I've since downsized significantly but kept the first six Dragonlance books (Chronicles and Twins) and the Drizzt books, as well as the Danilo and Arilyn books. Anything beyond the Dark Elf Trilogy should be good for a 9 year old because it's nothing above high fantasy, and doesn't delve into any drow subculture that may be off putting.
